Dead Stock Alert helps Shopify merchants identify slow-moving and dead inventory, quantify the cash it ties up, and run clearance actions. This policy explains what data the app accesses, what we store, why, and what your rights are. We designed the app to store the minimum data needed to do its job — and in particular, we do not store your customers' personal information.
This policy covers merchants who install Dead Stock Alert on their Shopify store, and — indirectly — their customers, whose order data is processed in aggregate as described below. For data collected by Shopify itself, please refer to Shopify's privacy policy.
Store information — your store domain, store name, store contact email, currency and timezone. Used to operate your account, format your reports and send the optional weekly digest.
Products & inventory — product titles, variants, SKUs, vendors, prices, cost per item, inventory quantities and product images. Used to compute aging, cash-at-cost and markdown recommendations.
Order line items (aggregated) — for each order we read only the creation date, the variant purchased, the quantity and the unit price. We store this as daily totals per product variant (for example: "variant X sold 3 units on 2026-07-14"). We do not store customer names, emails, addresses, phone numbers, payment details or any other customer-level information.
Billing status — your current plan and subscription status, so the right features are enabled. All charges are processed by Shopify; we never see or store payment card details.
We do not sell, rent or share your data with third parties for marketing. We do not use your data to train machine-learning models.
We process data to perform our contract with you (providing the app you installed), and on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating, securing and improving the service. Aggregated order data is processed as part of providing inventory analytics you requested by installing the app.
shop/redact webhook (sent 48 hours after uninstall), all data we hold for your store is permanently deleted from our systems. We implement all of Shopify's mandatory privacy webhooks: customers/data_request, customers/redact and shop/redact. Because we do not store customer-level data, customer data requests and redaction requests are acknowledged and logged; there is no customer data to return or erase. Shop redaction requests trigger complete deletion of the store's data.
Data is stored in a managed PostgreSQL database hosted on Railway (our hosting subprocessor), encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access tokens are stored server-side only and are never exposed to the browser. Webhooks are verified with HMAC signatures, and all app requests are authenticated with Shopify session tokens.
Depending on your location (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete the data we hold about your store, and to object to or restrict processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@trackwise.studio. We respond within 30 days. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
If we make material changes, we will update this page and note the new effective date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
